(01) The brief
AulaVisual runs workshops in documentary film, neighbourhood memory and short films. It had a PDF with its texts, a design sketch and no logo: it needed to show the films its students make and receive quote requests.
(02) What it does
- Short-film gallery with category filters, sorting by recent or featured, and video in a window without leaving the site.
- Search that works without accents, with typos and synonyms, and suggests “did you mean?”.
- One page per workshop and a WhatsApp button with the enquiry pre-written.
(03) How it was built
- Astro on Cloudflare Workers with content in KV: the director changes films, workshops and texts without republishing.
- Eight colour palettes switchable from the panel; the logo received as a PNG was cleaned up and used as a mask that takes the palette colour.
- Structured data for an educational organisation, courses and films, plus llms.txt for AI search.
(04) Security
- Panel password with PBKDF2 stored as a Worker secret, never in the repository.
- Daily write cap so no visit can trigger costs.
- Panel and colour test views kept out of search engines.
(05) Speed and Google
WebP thumbnails and lazy-loaded videos: YouTube only downloads when a film is opened. Site verified in Search Console with the sitemap submitted.
(06) What it deliberately doesn’t do
- It does not sell courses or take payments online: enrolment is arranged on WhatsApp.
