(01) The brief
Bendito Cuadro sells religious pictures (Saint Michael the Archangel, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Saint Expeditus, Sacred Heart and others) to give on special dates. It started from a mockup and a Word document: there was no store.
(02) What it does
- Catalogue by saint and by occasion, with live search that finds results even without accents.
- Cart with an automatic quantity discount: 10% for two pictures and 15% from three.
- Checkout that formats the Chilean mobile number and sends the order to the business WhatsApp with the details pre-written.
(03) How it was built
- Astro rendered on Cloudflare Workers; catalogue and photos in KV, so the owner changes products without republishing the site.
- Images converted to WebP at several widths with our own script.
- Automated tests of the panel, the full purchase and the API before every delivery.
(04) Security
- Panel password stored as a hash; signed session cookie, with no database write on every visit.
- The server recalculates prices and discounts: the browser cart does not decide what is charged.
- SPF and DMARC records against spoofing of the domain in fake emails.
(05) Speed and Google
CSS inlined on every page and self-hosted fonts with no third parties. Verified in Google Search Console and Bing; IndexNow notifies search engines of changes.
(06) What it deliberately doesn’t do
- No online payment: payment and shipping are arranged on WhatsApp.
- No courier or electronic invoice integration.
